Athletepath, a PIE startup from last year’s class, has been tapped to partner with the annual Hood to Coast relay race. They’ll provide race stats for the 18,000 individual racers, as well as legs of the race and team times, and friends and family watching at home can receive live updates.

“The race director used our service for the Bridge to Brew 10k, and liked it so much that she invited us to partner with the Hood to Coast relay,” said David Embree, Athletepath’s founder. “It was the first platform that actually delivered what they were looking for.”
Hood to Coast runners can log onto the site, enter their time and submit, all while actually running the race.
“The site saves times for the whole team, so that it’s possible to track point by point progress,” Embree said. “It also saves each leg as a race so you can compare with age, gender and segments.”
Friends, family and observers at home can follow a team or racer for free, and will receive live notifications on their progress.
“We’re trying to bring a level of community and friendly context to racing,” Embree said. “It’s not hardcore, it’s accesible. It helps show people you know who are in the same race.”

“It lets you do invites and notifications,” he added. “Want to do training with friends? Everyone who’s signed up is automatically notified when you sign up to a race.”
Sign up for Athletepath on their site, and get ready for the Hood to Coast relay on August 23rd.
