Musician & Comic Artist Daniel Johnston Concludes Space Ducks Art Show with Concert Performance in W+K Foyer

On Thursday, the month-long show of Daniel Johnston’s Space Ducks: An Infinite Comic Book of Musical Greatness concluded with a performance by the man himself. The event coincided with the relaunch of his site,, produced in partnership with W+K and WKE.

About a hundred people filled the W+K Portland foyer, with dozens more watching from the stairs and catwalks above.

Johnston performed three songs for about 20 minutes before abruptly leaving the stage in what onlookers agreed was a characteristic display of his shyness and vulnerability – the same qualities that make his songwriting so poignant.

People in the audience seemed surprised but not upset, and remained in the space after the concert concluded to check out the exhibition of Johnston’s Space Ducks: an Infinite Comic Book of Musical Greatness.

The event was shown simultaneously on a livestream; we’ll update this post with the video when it’s ready.

Thanks to WKE and Daniel Johnston for the performance and exhibition! Be sure to check out Daniel’s newly-designed site,
