Seven Drinks You Should Know How to Make

“I always liked a Manhattan but I never knew how to pour one”.

I must admit, I forgot who told me this, but I had it recorded on one of my voice memos from last night’s “Seven Drinks You Should Know How to Make” workshop presented by WK12. I guess this is what happens when you’re too busy learning how to differentiate a good bourbon from a bad one—while finishing up the two drinks you made from the last learning station.

The story was the same for many of those who participated in last night’s 7-drink workshop. With over 60 W+K employees in attendance, aspiring bedroom mixologists learned how to prepare 7 classic drinks that everyone should know; Gin Martinis, Manhattans, Daiquiris, Lemon Drops, Side Cars, Old Fashioned’s and my personal favorite of the night, the French 75.

The idea of the event came about when WK12’s, Matt McCarron and Drew Downie, along with our very own Jacose Bell, were sitting at a bar and thought that it would be a fun, social and educational (we all learned the process of muddling!) gathering where you’d be able to interact with people from different departments. Jacose, who was also on board as an instructor, played a huge role in gathering the right team of bartenders from Swift, Vault and Clyde Common to help facilitate the workshop.

Amidst all the shaking, pouring and mixing going on, attendees went home with a bar-kit and an improved knowledge of making cocktails. Special thanks goes out to Moet-Hennessy, Neil Copplin (Clyde Common), Tyler Cowdry (Swift), Jessica Endsworth (Moet-Hennessy), Ademar Martin, Walker Cahill and everyone who showed up and had a great time.
