Our co-ed softball team finally started it's season last Monday night. Armed with the usual mix of grizzled veterans, some fresh newbies and a cooler full of PBRs, we took the field against a solid team from CMD.
In the bottom of the 6th inning, CMD was able to quickly run up two outs on us. We answered by loading the bases, setting up the big play of the game for newbie Adam "Hurtin for Certain" Sirkin - who calmly stepped up to the plate and slammed a line drive to left center field. Adam ran so fast he turned the line drive into a grand slam home run. After adding one or two more insurance runs, we entered the 7th inning with a 6 run lead.
CMD wasn't about to go so quitely. After a single here, a single there, an error here, a lucky bloop there - all of a sudden they had chipped off 5 runs from our lead. With two on base and two out, CMD finally hit a nice ground ball directly to our seasoned vet shortstop Matt "Money Money" Moore who made the captured moment below for the final out.
Tonight we take on Anvil/Formic
Congrats on the win! If you ever need another great player, drop me a line.
Cheers
