Ladies and Gentlemen please say hello to five new appointees to the WK Studio, Jordi Martinez, Shaun Sundholm, Taylor Twist, Mike Giepart and Drew Marshall.

Update: Over the weekend we decided to reshape the coastline of Oregon so the beach nestles right up to the foosball table.

We got five questions for all of these guys and they gave us 5 answers each.
1. Where are you from and how did you get here?
Jordi Martinez: Barcelona, Spain.
Shaun Sundholm: I am from NW 21st and Overton. I walked.
Taylor Twist: I am from Rhode Island. I flew on a plane to Portland Oregon on the 28th of March 2006. It was a homecoming of sorts. Actually it wasn't. At all. I flew in the not coach section. Sat next to an empty seat, and sipped on Bacardi and ginger ale for several hours. My palms were sweatyish. I was happy to be in Oregon. I still am happy to be in Oregon.
Mike Giepart: Salt Lake City. I drove 18 hours in the snow to drop off my application to 12. Then I was accepted to 12. And I haven't left the building since.
Drew Marshall: I'm from Minnesota. I took a train across North Dakota, Montana, and Idaho 6 years ago.
2. Did you go to school for what you do and if so, do you have a website or any portfolio stuff?
Jordi Martinez: I studied Humanities in Barcelona.
Shaun Sundholm: I attended the University of Hardknock State and have nothing to show for it. You can view it at sundholmdesign.com.
Taylor Twist: I sort of went to school for what I do. I studied communications at Marist College in Poughkeepsie New York. My focus was in creative advertising. I focused real hard on it. I used to have a website, but I forgot how to use the internet.
Mike Giepart: Yep. University of Utah for Graphic Design.
My blog, alchemi (been to busy to update): http://alchemi.blogspot.com/
12 Portfolio: http://www.wk12.com/book/book2.html
Drew Marshall: I went to Portland State. Studied some English but I had a couple friends in the graphic design program. I fucked around with making some gig posters; started trying to guess what kind of typeface was on the side of the cereal box and eventually became obsessed. I have an old pdf of some work up (psilodesign.com) I typically only like the work I've done for about 6 months. Then it's time to throw it on the fire and start anew.
3. What do you do outside of work?
Jordi Martinez: I try to do nothing.
Shaun Sundholm: Cook, make music, watch old cars go fast, try to make slow old cars go faster, try to drive slow, look at trees, throw rocks in ponds and read books outside on benches.
Taylor Twist: I like to think about sports, and sports. I like to do paintings. I like to take walks up towards Wallace Park and think about buying one of those palatial estates that the people from the sixth floor live in. I like to cook. French toast is my specialty, and pizza eggs, and grilled pizzas. I clean my apartment sometimes. I don't like to do laundry. I want to get rich, so I can relinquish my role in the doing of my laundry. My mom had me doing my own laundry by the 4th grade.
Mike Giepart: Drink, draw, write, read. In that order.
Drew Marshall: Bike a lot. Go to shows. In this weather, try to BBQ as much as possible. I collaborate on projects with people. That's kind of vague but sometimes it might be working on an art project, planning a big event, making adventure happen.
4. If you were forced to get something pierced on your body what would it be and why?
Jordi Martinez: Perdon, no entiendo la pregunta ;)
Shaun Sundholm: My nose? Because it needs more attention drawn to it.
Taylor Twist: I would pierce my palm meat. My palm meat would be pierced with diamonds so that when I waved to you in the morning you would be overjoyed with delight when you caught a load of my palm meat diamonds.
Mike Giepart: Foreskin.
Drew Marshall: My favorite color is blue and I like dill pickle scratch n sniff stickers.
5. What do you want to do this year?
Jordi Martinez: Speak English better and get my driver's license
Shaun Sundholm: Same thing I want to do every year, try and take over the world.
Taylor Twist: This year I want to make: great work, money, friends, crepes, sweet love, fried chicken, tooth picks, slam dunks and hook shots, no babies, pizza eggs again, gardens, photo copies, photo realistic paintings, and homemade potatoes.
Thanks for your time.
Taylor
Mike Giepart: That naked bike ride around Portland thing. With pierced foreskin.
Drew Marshall: Cook more, dance more, frisbee golf more, bike more, wheat-paste more, go to Thailand, New York, Minnesota. Bike faster, run faster, publish more, print more stickers, keep it real?
I understand they are young, but they are empty, there is nothing in their heads, and what exactly they do? one is graphic designer the others do what? ..more pasta, more biking,,, pierced foreskin, jesus, does hiring mindless dingdongs put smile on Dan's face?
